"Cooking Up Opportunities
for the Village"
June 2008 An Evening to Remember
The
Board of Directors hosted "Cooking Up Opportunities for
the Village" at Congregation Rodeph Shalom on June 5th
in celebration of another successful year in providing
superior quality early childhood
education and after-school programming. Thanks to the
generous support of regional and Philadelphia chefs, corporate
sponsors, donors and guests, the event surpassed its fundraising
goals. The in-kind support of so many organizations and
businesses, as well as committed volunteers from OIC Philadelphia
and the Junior League of Philadelphia ensured the success
of our event. Children's Village was thrilled to honor
Lisa Nutter with "It Takes A Village Award" for her dedication
and work on behalf of children and welcomed Mayor Michael
Nutter as a special guest. Master of Ceremonies Rick Williams
of Channel 6abc and Dannis Anderson who performed vocals
and piano made the evening festivities a night to remember.

Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the national accreditation

CHILDREN'S VILLAGE IS RECIPIENT OF
PNC'S GROW UP GREAT LIBRARY INITIATIVE
Thanks to the generosity of PNC's Grow Up
Great Library initiative, Children's Village now has a "real"
library for our children! Recognizing the importance of libraries
to young children, Children's Village made an investment in
construction costs so that PNC could transform the space with
1,500 new titles, bookshelves, table and chairs, colorful
rugs and puppets and framed posters of favorite storybook
characters. For Children's Village, the creation of the library
means that our children will have a better opportunity to
discover firsthand the power of words and meet literary characters
in a way they have never experienced. Thank you PNC!
