Family Involvement
FAMILIES ARE OUR PARTNERS - LET'S SHARE OUR EXPERTISE AND WORK TOGETHER!
Family involvement is as integral a component of high quality child care as providing direct education and care to children. Children's Village respects and supports families by maintaining ongoing communication between teachers and parents (and other important family members). Communication flows through regular conferences, daily written logs for toddler-age children, bulletin board displays of children's learning, and a myriad of informal ways of staying in touch with families. Administrators are always on site and interact frequently with families, teachers and children. This way immediate concerns can be properly addressed before minor problems become big ones.
We make a concerted effort to communicate with family members in their primary language. Three full-time family service staff speak several Chinese dialects in addition to English. Other staff members and teachers also speak second languages. The language coordinator heads our English enrichment program, which promotes children's English language learning while supporting the home language and culture.
Head Start
HEAD START SERVICES PROVIDED TO ELIGIBLE FAMILIES, BUT ALL FAMILIES BENEFIT
All families benefit from Children's Village's compliance with the national Head Start performance standards. Parents have the opportunity to serve on committees, engage in interactive workshops on child development and education, and attend meetings to keep abreast of center activities. Head Start participants also receive two home visits per year by the teacher, developmental and health screenings, and support for family goals and dreams.

"CV is a great place to be a child. My imagination, creativity, and natural curiosity were always nourished by the fun activities and the structure that the teachers implemented. Each day was literally an adventure that encouraged me to make more discoveries about the world. I met children from different backgrounds and I learned to appreciate others as well as myself." -Lai Har, former board member and Children's Village student
